Learning Through Internships

 

So far this year we have had over 30 STEP students participate in non-paid internships.  Students are placed in rotations for 6-8 weeks for a couple hours a day.  While on these sites students are working to not only improve the skills related to the specific job, but they are developing employability soft skills such as working in a team, communication, and problem solving skills.  Students also practice skills such as preparing for work, getting to and from work using the DART, calling in when sick.  Currently we have partnerships with over 25 business and non-profit organizations in our city and we are always developing new sites based on student interest.
